Welcome to Dr Survival’s website!

Dr Sarita Robinson (aka Dr Survival®) is an academic who has spent nearly 30 years researching the Psychology of Survival. Sarita started her PhD at Lancaster University back in 1999, looking at Cognitive and Neuroimmune Factors in Human Survival. Or, to put it another way, Sarita was trying to work out why some people are more likely to survive emergency situations than others (and what we can do to improve our chances of survival).
After studying with Dr John Leach for 6 years, Sarita graduated and took a lectureship at the University of Lancashire in Preston, where she continued researching people’s reactions to disasters. During the pandemic Sarita took on a senior leadership role leading the University’s Psychology and Neuroscience programmes.
In summer 2026, Sarita will be stepping down from her role of Associate Dean in the School of Psychology and Humanities to refocus on her survival psychology work. Sarita will still retain a part-time academic post at the University but now spends most of her time as a Lady Scholar – researching, lecturing, doing media work and offering consultancy services in all things survival psychology related.
